Every Sunday at 12.00 noon, in the shadow of a gothic tower by Belgian artist Wim Delvoye, museum visitors are offered complimentary spritzer aperitifs courtesy of APEROL, member of Intrapresæ Guggenheim Collection. Delvoye’s 30-foot steel Torre was created exclusively for the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, and will be on view through November 22, 2009.
The summer program continues with the concert on August 26, traditionally organized for Peggy Guggenheim’s birthday. This is reserved for museum members. Pianist Alfonso Alberti has prepared a program of music as a tribute to Peggy Guggenheim, to her collection, as well as to the late Robert Rauschenberg.
Kids Day, as free workshops for children ages 4 to 10, will pause for a brief rest during the month of August, and will resume on September 6, from 15.00 to 16.30.
Free guided visits of the Robert Rauschenberg: Gluts temporary exhibition continue through the month every day at 15.30.
Opening October 10, 2009, the exhibition Prendergast in Italy at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection will offer you the chance to glimpse an unspoiled late 19th century Venice through the art of the great American Post-Impressionist Maurice Prendergast.
