From June 10 until July 17, gegenalltag presents the exhibition “Lost Army” by Moonspoon Saloon at quartier21/MuseumsQuartier. The installation is an investigation of uniformed expression.

Inspired by the fashion of ancient warfare and the Palace experiments of Moonspoon Saloon member Tal R, “Lost Army” follows the recent performance of “White Crane” at Victoria Miro Gallery in London. Moonspoon Saloon is an ongoing fashion project at the frontier between art and fashion.

Moonspoon Saloon is an Copenhagen-based fashion and art collective that was founded by fashion and costume designer Sara Sachs, painter Tal R and photographer Noam Griegst.

Moonspoon Saloon unites different forms of expression in a fashion brand that has set out to create ninety-nine designs in ninety-nine unique interpretations that re-emerge in various contexts from traditional runway shows to performances in art spaces and films. www.moonspoonsaloon.com

Sara Sachs, Designer
After spending the nineties in European art and designs schools including Central Saint Martins in London, Sara Sachs began designing for various international jeans labels starting with Miss Sixty. She worked with modern dance chorographers and created costumes for dance performances. In addition to this, Sara started working in the art scene and collaborated with Tal R for his 2003 “Lords of Kolbojnik” show at Victoria Miro in London. With Moonspoon Saloon Sara has attempted to bridge the worlds of fashion and art.

Noam Griegst, Photographer

Out of a family of goldsmiths Noam Griegst turned to photography and studied in Paris. His distinctive work in fashion photography is regularly published in editorials and advertisement. Apart from his commercial work Noam has collaborated with contemporary artists and recently published his first book "Still going life", which is on sale in Collete in Paris and selected bookstores.

Tal R, Artist
After his graduation from the Royal Academy of Art in Copenhagen in 2000, Tal R has become international renowned for distinct thickly layered paintings in which solid forms and bright colours convey a naïve experience of the world. More than 30 solo shows around the world have exhibited his work, which also includes sculpture, collage and textile works. Tal R is currently guest professor at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and has a passion for fashion that is brought to life in Moonspoon Saloon.

gegenalltag fashion&art
Located on Electric Avenue at the MuseumsQuartier in Vienna since June 2005, the fashion gallery 'gegenalltag' regards itself as a forum and a lab for the young and international fashion set and the art scene.

The exhibition area curated by Jasmin Ladenhaufen provides space for the discussion of clothes, the textiles of commercial interest and beyond. gegenalltag shows works of art and performances on fashion as well as definitely wearable fashion. Misuse and border crossing meet comfort and functionality as well as aspects of clothing which go far beyond fashion.
