TRIMO ARCHITECTURAL DAYS


Outstanding response to Trimo international architectural competitions

Ljubljana, 4 June 2009
– Trimo held the official granting of International Trimo Architectural Awards (TAN) and International Trimo Urban Crash awards (TUC), which took place at the Old Power Station in Ljubljana. These awards represent an important international achievement in the field of architecture. The official granting was organised as a part of Trimo Architectural days which will end tomorrow after the official roundtable discussion and lecture with eminent guests at Ljubljana castle. Within TAN, Trimo granted 9 awards this year for the best national and international architectural solutions using Trimo products and within TUC awarded 3 authors of diplomas for the best architectural solution.

Trimo organised the international Trimo Architectural Awards for the fourth time and has this year received 114 projects from 14 countries. The official granting took place at the Old Power Station in Ljubljana where the company granted awards for Complete Design of an Industrial Landscape, for Efficient Design of Industrial Buildings, for Quality Design of Smaller-scale Buildings, for Efficient Design of the Façade Shell as well as an honorary award for Complete Design of an Industrial Landscape and an honorary award for Efficient Design of an Industrial Building. Awards went to Denmark, Hungary, Macedonia, Spain, Slovenia, Poland, Serbia and Turkey, whereas two honorary awards for Complete Design of an Industrial Landscape went to 2 architects from Poland.

Within international Trimo Urban Crash competition, which awards the most innovative and creative ideas from students of architecture, Trimo this year received 147 projects from 17 countries. The winning solution for a cultural stage is a sculpture-like form, a unity without a defined beginning and end and belongs to two architects from Poland, namely Jan Ledwon and Alicja Chola. This cultural stage was chosen for the best idea for the realization at this international student competition.

Trimo architectural days ended on 5 June with the official roundtable discussion entitled «More than just a pretty face: The envelope as integral architectural component» with eminent speakers from the architectural sphere. The event started at 10.00 at Ljubljana castle.

, General Manager of Trimo at this occasion stated: “We are glad our efforts bore fruit. At Trimo we encourage such creative and free-minded thinking. Miloš Ebner, President of the selection board said: “There is no grater satisfaction than to be during times of serious matters surrounded by innovation, creativity and visionariness.”

Tomaž Furlan, artist and representative of Metelkova city in the selection board for the winning project at the event stated: “I would especially like to commend the initiator and the performer of the project TUC, namely Trimo for its correctness at the execution of the competition and selection of projects as well as for its outmost objectivity and fairness. Their extremely positive approach and transparency proves that the positive cooperation between such different parties is achievable.”
