Golden Drum - The taste of the New Europe advertising event

Golden Drum, the number one East-European advertising festival is soon to come. 5 days to go. With a central topic called Reconstruction, the 17th edition of the advertising festival sounds promising. You need to be part of it in order to taste it, but in the meantime, it smells like optimism, high expectations, and powerful competition. The numbers show it, the entries stand up for it and the creative speakers are a living proof.

SHARP COMPETITION
The number of all entries in 2010 festival is 1.961. Among them, 1.718 compete for the Golden Drum Awards, and 243 for the best Piran-Portoroz poster. The most entries are coming from agencies and studios from Russia (255), Poland (179) and Romania (170). Slovenia ranks as 4th with 132 entries. More than 100 works have been submitted also by creative enterprises from Turkey (124), Ukraine (122), Israel (119), Austria (118) and the Czech Republic (100).
In terms of media, printed ads (363) cover for the most entries, followed by media campaigns (235), outdoor (234), TV ads (299) and interactive works (200). 182 works compete in the design and art direction category, 120 for advertisement campaigns, 89 for PR and 69 works for Radio.

HIGH DOSES OF CREATIVITY
The 2010 schedule for Golden Drum is rich and diverse. Worldwide creative directors such as Sir John Hegarty (Worldwide Creative Director, Bartle Bogle Hegarty), Olivier Altmann (Chief Creative Officer, Publicis Worldwide), Michael Conrad (President, Berlin School of Creative Leadership), Mark Tutssel (Chief Creative Officer, Leo Burnett Worldwide), John Dooner (Chairman McCann Worldgroup), Akira Kagami (Executive Officer and Global Creative Director, Dentsu Inc. Japan), Donald Gunn (The Gunn Report Founder) are coming to share their knowledge and ideas, while spreading a good vibe and each time, another interesting point of view. Romania has its own vibrant creative, present at the festival and moreover, in the PR Jury as President: Eliza Rogalski CEO of Tempo Creative Group.
Among all these creative speeches, Golden Drum has prepared for the great number of delegates eight labs, five ‘David’s (local companies with an internationally recognized brand fighting Goliath on the global market), a Laibach concert in the Amphitheatre of the Auditorium in Portoroz.

LIVE CHALLENGE
One live competition will take place at the Golden Drum 2010 Studio Drum, film-related ex tempore, for the 7thtime, already. The selected young directors have about 10 hours time to shot a one-minute movie, on the 35 mm Kodak film. Directors include Jaroslav Čevaževski (Russia), Bernd Pfingstman (Austria), Milan Balog (Slovakia) and Nejc Pohar (Slovenia). The very special surprise of this year will be the Hall of Fame of the New Europe. A marble wall in Grand Hotel Bernardin in Portoroz, the place that hosts the advertisement community of the New Europe every year, will celebrate the most successful ones. Last, but not least, Golden Drum will grant efficient and creative awards for all those who have been creative and efficient enough to deserve. All this, in less than a week from now. Keep all eyes open. The Reconstruction is about to start. Between 6 and 9 of October.
