Rafael Viñoly Architects has announced the recipients of four independent Research Fellowships for 2009.
The successful teams, which include researchers from Mexico, Australia, Colombia, France, China and the USA, will focus on case studies in locations as diverse as Bogotá and Shanghai, the slums of Mexico City and the tsunami-torn villages of Aceh, Indonesia. The Fellowships are aimed at supporting the production of world-class research which is engaged in current global issues of social, economic and environmental importance, valuable to the profession and the society as a whole.
This is the third year running that the practice has awarded Research Fellowships and the first year that four teams will receive funding. This special programme for 2009 was conceived as a commemoration of the practice’s 25th Anniversary and was announced in May 2008.
